Inoculation of 3-mos.-old sugar cane plants with an extract of macerated green leaf hoppers (Draculacephala mollipes) resulted in formation of galls at the internodes. Gall formation occurred with application of sterilized and unsterilized extract, indicating that the stimulus is chemical rather than biological. Stimulation of adjacent growing points was also an effect of the injections.
