Abstract
GROENHIELLA bivestia, a new ascomycete found growing on wood partly buried in sand dunes is described. The genus is characterized by having large black non-ostiolate ascocarps, with deliquescing asci and brown bicelled ascopores with polar and equatorial appendages formed by fragmentation of a sheath. The new genus is compared with other marine fungi, especially the genus Pontoporeia, which it superficially resembles. Taxonomically G. bivestia is assigned to the Coronophoraceae. This publication has 3 references indexed in Scilit:
