Abstract
UNDERSTANDING of acutely acquired hemorrhagic disorders has accrued from a wide variety of clinical and experimental studies in many disciplines of medicine. As is often true of a rapidly growing field, gaps have persisted for a long time, and the nomenclature has yet to be standardized. Such was the case during the last decade before the work of the International Committee for the Standardization of Blood Clotting Factors.
