Abstract
Air labelled with 15O moves from the shoot to the root in rice and barley plants. The kinetics of the movement are consistent with gaseous diffusion of 15O through continuous gas spaces. The size of the gas spaces in barley roots is considerably smaller than in rice roots. Keywords
