Abstract
An aqueous methanol extract of the Oriental crude drug “sohaku-hi”, the root barks of Morus alba, prominently reduced the plasma sugar level in mice. Activity-guided fractionation of the extract furnished a glycoprotein, moran A, which elicited remarkable hypoglycemic effects in normal and alloxan-induced hyperglycemic mice. Keywords
