Abstract
Future research must consider a number of potential influencing variables, focus on before and after comparisons and comparisons among types of shared governance models, and include replications and longitudinal studies. In addition, qualitative, descriptive data regarding the life of the organization will be beneficial in interpreting the more quantitative findings. The ideal of controlling all variables is simply not possible when one is studying a complex organization. With ingenuity, creativity, and a blend of methodologies, however, researchers may come considerably closer to understanding more about how and why shared governance can work effectively. Keywords
