Abstract
Doubts have been raised as to the value of consulting patients about the services they receive, in terms of the cost effectiveness of patient satisfaction studies, the usefulness of the data produced and the methods with which they are carried out. This paper draws upon the College of Health's own Consumer Audit research in hospital settings to illustrate the practical benefits of involving patients in the planning and delivery of services. Keywords
