Abstract
As a result of 6 hours of intoxication with a dose of malathion that was lethal in 7 hours, adult male German cockroaches Blatella germanica (L.), lost about 62% of their original blood volume. There was a positive correla-tion between the rate of knockdown of the poisoned cockroaches and the blood depletion. Consequently, they lost about 18% of their wet weight. Evidence has been presented to attribute the majority of water loss and weight loss to increased transpiration through the spiracles and inter-segmental membranes of the paralyzed roaches. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
