Abstract
Tissues taken from dogs which had received large amts. of NH4NO3 contained 6-10 times as much nitrate-N as normal tissues. Approximately 50% of ingested nitrate-N was excreted by the kidney. Although not shown experimentally in dogs, it seems unlikely that lack of gastro-intestinal absorption explains such low recovery. Only a small part is taken up by the tissues and retained as inorganic nitrate; nitrate is probably destroyed in the tissues and hence cannot be recovered quantitatively in the urine. This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
