Management of Allergy to Animal Danders

Abstract
Allergy to furred animals is an extremely important clinical problem. We review current data on animal allergens and animal dander sensitivities and attempt to provide a rational approach to their control. Environmental control measures are stressed as the first line of therapy, and the role of immunotherapy is discussed. Throughout, we refer primarily to cats and dogs, both because they are the most common animals in our lives and because they have been the most extensively studied. However, most of what is said will be applicable to other animal allergens.
