Abstract
The effect of long-term (3 wk) immobilization on mice skeletal (gastrocnemius muscle) and heart muscles was investigated. Morphometric determinations were carried out for the analysis of surface and volume parameters. The ultrastructural visual evaluation of the mitochondria showed that there are no differences between control and experimental groups. The immobilized muscles had a tendency for the transformation to low-energy states (condensed state). Apparently, these changes in mitochondria are reversible.
