Abstract
The importance of gastroscopy in patients with upper abdominal complaints following gastric resection is stressed, especially when X-ray examinations are negative. Non-absorbable suture material and its sequelae like granuloma or ulcer form a distinct entity in the postoperative stomach which may be responsible for ulcer-type pain or minor bleeding. This completely avoidable lesion should be familiar to all clinicians.
