Abstract
Presented is an innovative method of using research findings to improve the quality of life in a long-term care institution. The impact of action research in developing service is described. Program implementation is examined in terms of the ways groups of residents, staff, and families worked to enhance their social environment by strengthening supportive relationships, highlighting personal development, maximizing independence, and increasing the residents' influence. Keywords
