Abstract
A detailed description is given of Strep. zymogenes based upon a more varied set of characteristics than has heretofore been used for this purpose. Strep. zymogenes is shown to be a member of the "enterococcus group," closely related to Strep. jecalis. It is recommended that the name Strep. zymogenes be retained for enterococcus-like streptococci which are hemolytic and proteolytic, and that non-proteolytic and non-hemolytic strains be regarded, for the present, as varieties. This publication has 15 references indexed in Scilit:
