Sulfate Content of Rat Kidney Cortex in Vitro

Abstract

Slices of rat renal cortex incubated in vitro show, under defined conditions, accumulation of sulfate, demonstrable by benzidine precipitation and by isotope (S³⁵O₄) techniques. The two methods agree in the case of slices incubated in KCl-sucrose. After incubation in NaCl-sucrose, however, S³⁵ is distributed in only half of the benzidine-precipitable sulfate.
