Abstract
Influenza caused by the A/England virus occurred in a home for the aged where an A/Hong Kong vaccine had been given. One hundred eight persons developed febrile respiratory illnesses. Attack rates and death rates were similar in vaccinees and nonvaccinees. However, vaccinees had shorter febrile illnesses than nonvaccinated individuals (P<.001). In persons on one floor who were almost wholly unvaccinated, a more serious illness prevailed for reasons obscure. Yet the difference was so obvious that addition of these figures to the others would have necessitated a different overall interpretation. (JAMA230:863-866, 1974)Keywords
