Abstract
The 353 strains of group D streptococci used in this study were isolated from the feces of healthy and sick infants. 24 specific type sera were prepd., and of the 353 strains, 281 were typed by slide agglutination and by precipitin tests with absorbed sera. Reciprocal absorption showed subtypes to be associated with some strains. The strains were tested for various physiol. characters, including the presence of tyrosine decarboxylase, and it was possible to divide them roughly into 2 sections, in which physiol. and serol. types were associated. (I) including typical Streptococcus faecalis, and (II) S. bovis. S. durans and unclassified strains. Keywords
