Abstract
This is a study of 400 forms of application for assisted migration to New Zealand, received at the New Zealand Migration Office in London from residents of the United Kingdom during two months in 1953. Such a source can give information converning some of the characteristics of would-be emigrants. The results suggest that the commonly accepted characteristics of migrants can be seen at the stage of making the initial application, although there is also the suggestion that the conditions of the scheme themselves constitute a selective factor. Keywords
