Abstract
An antiserum prepared against porcine procarboxypeptidase B reacted only with its homologous antigen in serologic tests and not with other carboxypeptidases or procarboxypeptidases of bovine or porcine origin. The antigenic acitvity of the enzyme was retained under conditions which destroyed its enzymatic function. The antiserum was an efficient inhibitor of the peptidase but not the esterase function of the enzyme. One possible explanation for this was discussed. The potential use of the antiserum for the isolation of porcine procarboxypeptidase B was suggested.
