Abstract
Structures of dimers to tetramers of palatinose formed by its acidic self-condensation were elucidated. Dimers are composed of almost all possible isomers such as α2′→l and β2′→l linked tetraoses, α2′→3 and α2′→4 linked tetraoses, and α2′→l: β2→1′-dianhydrides. However, trimer and tetramer mixtures were rather simple and proved to be composed of α2 →1 and β2→1 linked oligomers as major and minor components, respectively. Keywords
