Abstract
During the past 7 yr, 14 pregnant patients were admitted for treatment of ureteral calculus. During this same period, 22,495 deliveries were performed, for an incidence of 1 calculus/1600 pregnancies. Patients [11] spontaneously passed the calculus, 10 prior to delivery and 1 patient postpartum. Patients [3] required an operation, 2 antepartum and 1 patient postpartum. No maternal or fetal complications occurred. Management of urinary calculi during pregnancy must be individualized and should be based on location of the stone, degree of obstruction, presence or absence of infection, general condition of the patient and stage of pregnancy. Surgical intervention to remove obstructing calculi is not contraindicated during pregnancy. This publication has 0 references indexed in Scilit:
