Abstract
A comparison of two groups of patients with acute laryngotracheo bronchitis, hospitalized before and after initiation of an educational program in infectious diseases, demonstrated no differences in severity or prognosis despite significant reduction in antirnicrobial usage. These observations show how a "scientific" approach to management of an infectious disease may reduce unnecessary and potentially harmful antimicrobial therapy. Keywords
