Abstract
The 15N( alpha , gamma )19F reaction has been studied for alpha -particle bombarding energies from 5.2 to 8.4 MeV using a differentially-pumped gas target. Forty-two resonances have been identified in the gamma ray yield, of which 32 have been observed to decay by gamma emission to known states in 19F. The remaining ten resonances were found to arise from the 15N( alpha , alpha ' gamma )15N and 15N( alpha ,p gamma )18O reactions. Decay schemes, widths and values of omega gamma have been measured for many of these states. The data obtained are compared with previous published work on the 19F nucleus. Keywords
