Abstract
Study of the influence of extract neurohypophyseal (NE) on milk secretion of the human breast and evaluation of its effectiveness in the therapy of congestion. NE produces milk secretion after brief latency, if it is given intravenously in doses of 0.5 bird units. Intravenous (i.v.) injections of vasopressin-free NE produce the same effect but only if administered in larger doses (2-4 units). The combination of NE-thymus extract in i.v. administration in a dose of 0.2 units only, produces the same effect. I.v. administration of 1 unit of NE increases by 32% the amount of milk which may be obtained mechanically from the breasts of patients suffering from congestion without changing the qualities of the milk. The mechanical-hormonal evacuation in case of retention of milk produces good therapeutical effects and is of prophylactic value in the formation of mastitis. Keywords
