Abstract
An attempt was made to determine all possible schemes for global symmetry as representations of groups. All possible schemes which correspond to connected groups were found, but the conclusions about nonconnected groups are incomplete. Physical interpretation of the schemes is discussed, and a detailed summary of group‐theoretic methods is included. Keywords
