Abstract
The ‘neutral detergent fibre’(NDF) method (Van Soest, 1963) is generally considered the most convenient assay technique for dietary fibre . After comparison of the NDF method with enzymatic methods the author concludes that more attention should be paid to the development of enzymatic methods with the object of reducing incubation time and achieving reliable results for both water-soluble and water-in soluble components.
