Abstract
Plasma heating by fast compression has been studied using an initial plasma with and , which is produced by collision of two plasma streams ejected from -pinch guns. Both ions and electrons are heated up to 3-4 keV with a maximum heating rate of 20 eV/nsec. After the magnetic field becomes maximum, two-temperature distributions are observed for the ions.
