Abstract
The use of new disposable plastic plates for performing the serologic microtechnique with spiral loops and droppers resulted in accurate, reproducible complement-fixation, hemagglutination, and hemagglutination-inhibition tests with several viral antigens. Optimal results were obtained when the transparent, plastic plates with round-bottom cups were used for complement-fixation tests and similar plates with conical-bottom cups were used for hemagglutination and hemagglutination-inhibition tests. The new equipment eliminates the need for the extensive washing procedures that were required with the Plexiglas plates, and such features should increase the usefulness of this method. Keywords
