Abstract
A number of clones of reed canarygrass (Phalaris arundinacea L.) from two synthetic cultivars were examined by thin layer chromatography for the presence of substances reacting with Ehrlich's reagent. Approximately half of the clones examined appeared to be free of substances giving the blue color considered indicative of tryptamines, but in these tryptamine‐free clones a substance giving the pink color indicative of gramine was detected. Keywords
