Abstract

The chromosome number of 10 cultivars of Cucumis melo L. is reported; 8 cultivars have 12 pairs, characteristic of the species, while 2 cultivars are aneuploids with 10 and 11 pairs respectively. There is no indication of numerical polyploidy or duplication of chromosomes.
