Abstract
This article considers the advantages and problems of labeling and suggests that the controversy over to label or not label is not the real issue since some children will be hurt by either decision. The author proposes and discusses a 2 year special education contract which would mitigate the damaging effects of labels in children with mild handicaps. Keywords
