Abstract
The interacting boson model is generalised to treat a system with dipole and quadrupole collective modes by means of a U(10) boson model. The rotational dynamical limit is presented and a method to treat a system with general collective modes lambda pi =1-, 2+, 3-, . . ., lambda m is proposed. Keywords
