Abstract
Confirmation has been made of a report by other authors (Hilker and White, 1958) concerning the pathways of carbohydrate metabolism in Entamoeba histolytica. Their findings of the presence of the Entner-Doudoroff pathway in the ameba is the first demonstration of the pathway in animal cells. The pathway was confirmed by demonstration of carboxyl-labelled lactic acid formed when bacterial-free amebae were given glucose- 1-C14.This publication has 2 references indexed in Scilit:
