To the Editor: Despite the generally good sensitivity and the consequent widespread use of the creatine phosphokinase MB band in the diagnosis of myocardial infarctions, this isoenzyme has been reported in a variety of disorders.1 Widespread destruction or inflammation of skeletal muscle can produce detectable levels of MB isoenzymes in the serum of patients with Duchenne muscular dystrophy,2 3 4 5 6 7 limb-girdle muscular dystrophy,2 , 4 , 5 Becker muscular dystrophy,3 , 5 , 7 congenital muscular dystrophy3 , 4 and myotonic dystrophy.5 , 6 However, since these disorders have been shown to have some cardiac involvement,8 , 9 there has always been doubt about the origin of the MB band.4 I should like to describe a . . .
