Abstract
An attempt was made to correlate theoretical surface energy calculations with empirically derived relations between surface energy, lattice energy, and molar volume. An equation linking these parameters is discussed in terms of real surface effects and is found to be consistent with the few available experimental values of surface energy obtained by cleavage techniques. Keywords
