Abstract
Women [6] with long-standing functional amenorrhoea were treated with 5 .mu.g of D-Ser (TBU)6 LH-RH-EA twice daily for 14 days. The functional states of the gonadostats, as assessed by a 25 .mu.g LH-RH [luteinizing hormone releasing hormone] test dose, widely varied before treatment; at the end of treatment they were uniformly low. In all patients D-Ser (TBU)6 LH-RH-EA induced gonadotropin release, the peak values occurring from day 1-3 of therapy. Despite further injections, mean gonadotropin levels declined rapidly thereafter and remained in the basal range for the rest of the study. Release of estradiol was very uncharacteristic. No consistent ovarian response pattern was observed during analog administration. Chronic stimulation with D-Ser (TBU)6 LH-RH-EA leads to a decreased responsiveness of the pituitary gland. This publication has 5 references indexed in Scilit:
