Abstract
Guidelines issued by the Agency for Health Care Policy and Research and the American Psychiatric Association recommend continued treatment with antidepressants for at least 4 to 9 months after depressive symptoms resolve to prevent relapse.1-3 Despite these guidelines, rates of treatment discontinuation within 3 months after the start of treatment can reach 68%, depending on the type of antidepressant prescribed and the population studied.4-10Keywords
