Abstract
A modified version of the Michigan Alcoholism Screening Test (Modified MAST) was anonymously given to 245 college students on two Midwestern university campuses (A and B). The questionnaire consists of twenty-five yes-no questions which can be easily and quickly administered with the cutoff score for suspected drug abuse set at five points. The modification was performed empirically to observe how the subjects would respond to a questionnaire similar to one with a well-established format. Twenty-five per cent of the students in the Campus A sample and 22 per cent of the Campus B sample scored five or more points. Keywords
