Abstract
A Zeeman study of the nuclear quadrupole resonance transition of 63Cu in KCu(CN)2 has determined the nuclear quadrupole coupling constant e2Qqzz to be 60.9±0.6 Mc/sec and the electric‐field‐gradient asymmetry parameter η to be 0.78±0.07. The crystal contains two physically inequivalent copper‐atom sites giving rise to two zero‐splitting loci. The direction of the principal electric‐field‐gradient z axis is nearly normal to the triangular plane formed by two carbon atoms and a nitrogen atom about each copper atom. Keywords
