Bandwidth in varactor harmonic generators

Abstract
The variation of efficiency and power output with frequency for varactor harmonic generators is evaluated. It is assumed that single tuned circuits are used at the input and output frequencies and that no idlers are present. The analysis basically refers to abrupt-junction doublers, but, using approximate techniques, it can be extended to other cases, and one such is included. The analysis includes the effects of varying the diode Qfactor, together with the effect of various forms of biasing. Numerical results are presented.
