Copper(II) Complexes of 2-Dialkylaminopyridine N-Oxides

Abstract
Complexes of the general formula [Cu(DP)X2] (X=NO3, Cl, Br and DP=2-dipropylaminopyridine N-oxide) have been isolated and characterized by their i.r., uv-vis., and e.s.r. spectra. We were unable to isolate complexes with more than one N-oxide ligand per metal ion or analytically pure complexes with either 2-diisopropyl-aminopyridine N-oxide cr 2-dibutylaminopyridine N-oxide. However, in attempting to prepare a new sample of [Cu(DM)(NO3)2] (DM=2-dimethylaminopyridine N-oxide), we isolated the blue [Cu(DM)2(NO3)2], and its spectroscopic properties are included.
