Lung Colony Assay With a Squamous Cell Carcinoma Derived From the Respiratory Tract of Mice2

Abstract
A lung colony assay with a respiratory tract carcinoma was developed. This transplantation model provides a method to determine the relative frequency of colony-forming units in a neoplasm grownin its natural environment. Experimental evidence indicates that this well-differentiated squamous cell-carcinoma consists of heterogeneouscell populations with differing proliferative and differentiative potentials. This tumor system should be useful for determining the efficacy of various types of lung cancer therapy.
