Abstract
Examined in a literature review was the relationship among old age, rehabilitation, and related research to identify sources of problems in the optimal rehabilitation of elderly persons and to explore the implications of rehabilitation for increased well-being of older persons. The role played by culture, functional status, psychosocial factors, and the health care system was addressed. Concluded was that rehabilitation is undoubtedly beneficial for older persons, and new directions for research are suggested.Keywords
