Abstract
The effect of absence of host or males on oviposition was studied in female Plutella maculipennis obtained from a rearing regimen favoring precocious reproductive development. Both stresses increased the preoviposition period and reduced oviposition rate additively. The sensory influence of the host plant affects the rate of oviposition behaviorally as well as by the physiological effect on oocyte development. Keywords
