Abstract
A brief survey of the application of the magnetic equivalent circuit method in evaluation of steady and transient states in induction machines is described in this paper. Taking into account machine geometry, type of windings, rotor skewing, magnetizing curve etc., this method is able to solve transients in ac machines. Sample calculations are provided, showing the influence of the number of stator and rotor slots, initial conditions, rotor skewing and saturation on electromagnetic and mechanical values during transients.
