Abstract
Intramuscular injections of ACTH caused a stimulation of the ovary and the uterus of young female rats as judged by the increase in wt. and by the histological changes in these organs. Similar effects were exerted by the hormone on the genital organs of adrenalectomized rats but not on the uterus of ovariectomized animals. It was suggested that ACTH influences the genital organs through an augmentation of pituitary gonadotropin output. Keywords
