Abstract
ON AUGUST 10, 1949, Governor Paul A. Dever signed an act authorizing the organization of union health departments in Massachusetts. The act has been described as the most far-reaching health legislation passed in many years, and physicians in the Commonwealth will undoubtedly wish to be thoroughly acquainted with it. They should study its provisions carefully, analyze its possible effect on medical practice and finally form an opinion of its value and effectiveness in improving local public-health administration.
