Abstract
An integral form of the close-coupling approximation has been applied to the scattering of electrons by hydrogen atoms with the retention of only the state, the effect of exchange being included. Results for the differential and the total cross sections have been obtained from 1 to 500 eV. The calculated results have been compared with the experimental findings and other theoretical results and are found to be fairly reliable throughout the entire energy range. The present results differ from Born values by about 4% even at 500 eV.
