Bioconcentration, excretion and metabolism of bis (tri‐n‐butyltin) oxide and triphenyltin chloride by gold Fish

Abstract
Bioconcentration and excretion of bis (tri‐n‐butyltin) oxide ((Bu3Sn)2O)) and triphenyltin chloride (Ph3SnCl) was studied for gold fish (Carassius aurapus). Logarithm of the bioconcentration factors (logBCF) after 14 days exposure was 3.09 ±0.06 (n=3) for (Bu3Sn)2O and 2.41±0.12 (n=3) for Ph3SnCl. Excretion of (Bu3Sn)2O and Ph3SnCl from gold fish was carried out in clean water for 14 days after bioconcentration of these chemicals in the test water for 14 days. The excretion rate constants were 0.08 day‐1 for (Bu3Sn)2O and 0.04 day‐1 for Ph3SnCl. Further, metabolism in gold fish was studied on (Bu3Sn)2O and Ph3SnCl. Bu2Sn2+ and BuSn3+ or Ph2Sn2+ and PhSn3+, metabolites of (Bu3Sn)2O or Ph3SnCl were detected in gold fish during the bioconcentration experiment (14 days).
