Abstract
Absorption bands at 435 and 437 nm, induced in CsBr single crystals by X‐irradiation at liquid‐helium temperature, are interpreted as being due to H centers. Underlying bands are observed in the region of the F absorption band. Optical and thermal interactions between the F and V type and α bands are shown to be present and mechanisms for these interactions are proposed. The formation of a new absorption band at 320 nm during the thermal bleaching is observed. Some optical and thermal properties of this band are examined.
